Under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme (PM FASAL Bima Yojana), compensation for the damage caused to crops from natural disaster is being given to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Yojana. Hundreds of hectares of crop has been destroyed due to hailstorm in Madhya Pradesh in March 2025. In view of this, the state government has decided to give compensation to compensate for the loss of farmers.
MP has 12 districts in disaster
Farmers’ crops have suffered the most in 12 districts of MP. At the same time, in Madhya Pradesh, there was unseasonal rains and hailstorm till March 22, due to which the farmers have suffered a lot of damage to the standing crops in the field. The districts of MP are the districts of Umaria, Maihar, Sagar, Shahdol, Singrauli, Anuppur, Damoh, Jabalpur, Panna, Seoni, Katni and Dindori districts.
So far in MP, a total of 2160 farmers have been assessed in the crop planted in about 2160 hectares in a total of 29 tehsils of 12 districts. At the same time, 05 loss of life, loss of 16 animals and 2 houses have been damaged due to celestial lightning.
Survey work started in MP disaster districts
According to the revenue department officials, first of all in 50 villages of 3 tehsils of Singrauli district, in 15 villages of 1 tehsil of Maihar district, in 34 villages of 4 tehsils of Shahdol district, 2 villages of 2 tehsils of Anuppur district, in 7 villages of 2 tehsils of Umaria district, in 7 villages of Damoh district, 105 villages of Damoh district, 10 in 10 villages of Panna district, 2 villages of Panna district, 2 villages of Panna district. In 2 tehsils of Katni district, in 10 villages of 1 tehsil of Seoni district, 20 villages of 3 tehsils of Dindori district have caused damage due to hailstorm. Apart from this, 2 villages of 2 tehsils of Sagar district have caused 1 loss of life and 2 animal loss.
So far, how much compensation is received by the farmers
According to the information given by the department, during the financial year 2024–25, the fire victims have been Rs 16.02 crore till 21 March 2025, Rs 216.44 crore due to damage due to hail, Rs 104.04 crore on flood or overflows, Rs 98.51 crore on death due to snakebite, Rs 0.13 crore for damage to damage, Rs 13.13 crore for crop damage, Rs 13.13 crore for crop damage. Rs 2.18 crore has been given in crop damage, Rs 154.51 crore in other items under 6–4 in revenue book circular. Thus, for these incidents so far, Rs 643.92 crore has been distributed by the state government to the disaster affected people.
Can inform within 72 hours
Survey of damage caused by unseasonal rains and hailstorms to farmers from the Madhya Pradesh government is being done continuously. In such a case, farmers who have insured their crops and their crops have been damaged by unseasonal rains or hailstorms can inform the insured farmer loss on the Agricultural Guard Helpine No. 14447. Apart from this, farmers can also inform their insurance company or their nearest Agriculture Department officials within 72 hours.
Crop insurance is entitled to take claims
The state government makes separate provisions for the localized disasters of the state on the basis of personal agriculture. Risks such as damage or damage caused by local hazards such as hailstorm, landslides and floods that affect separate agricultural jumps in the notified region come under this coverage, under these circumstances farmers are entitled to compensation or crop insurance claim. According to the Namayas of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers are given compensation or claim for 33 percent or more crop damage.
Up to 25 percent compensation claims can be made
Most insured farmers in the tehsil areas of MP want to sow, where farmers want to sow, but are banned from sowing the insured crops due to adverse weather. In such cases, the farmer has to bear the entire cost of sowing in adverse weather. After this, if there is crop damage, then under the Prime Minister crop insurance, the insured farmers can become compensation claims up to a maximum of 25 percent of the insurance amount.
