After the US created a ruckus in California, now forest fire has caused severe havoc in South Korea. So far, at least 18 people have died in this fire in the southern region of the country. According to officials, four firefighters and government employees are also among 18 dead. On Wednesday, officials said that more than 200 buildings have been ashes in the fire. At the same time, more than 27 thousand people have been forced to leave their homes. It is being described as the most horrific forest fire in the history of Korea.
South Korean acting President Han Duck-Suk has reported that the fire was on Friday and it is more dangerous than ever. Han said, “The loss is increasing. Such a fierce fire has never been seen before. We have to try to extinguish the fire with full capacity this week.” Han said that the employees have to struggle to extinguish the fire in the forest due to strong winds throughout the night. Han further stated that on Wednesday, about 4,650 firefighters, soldiers and other employees were working to extinguish the forest fire with the help of about 130 helicopters. He said that some relief is expected on Thursday.
A fierce fire broke out five places
There is a huge fire in the forest at five different places in South Korea. According to Korea Forest Service, four firefighters have died due to fire in Sanchyong on Saturday. Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-Suk has said to make every effort to stop the fire. He has also asked people to be vigilant.
5500 people had to leave home
Andong and his neighbor Uisyong and Sanchyong Counties and more than 5500 people of Ulsan city have to leave their homes. According to the Ministry of Internal and Safety of South Korea, the fire has taken the most horrific form here. The fire in thisong county is spreading rapidly. Now the authorities of Andong and U thisong County have ordered people living near many villages and Andong University to visit safe places.
130 helicopters engaged in extinguishing fire
Officials say that firefighters had extinguished the fire to a large extent. But due to dry weather and strong winds, the fire again took a fierce form. About 9,000 firefighters, more than 130 helicopters and hundreds of vehicles are being helped in extinguishing the fire.
7th century temple destroyed
According to Korea Heritage Service officials, the fire in Uisong has destroyed the 1300 -year -old Buddhist temple Gausa. This temple was made of wood. It was built in the 7th century. However, no casualties were reported here. Even before the fire reached the temple, the statue of Lord Buddha and some national heritage were taken out.
2600 prisoners are being sent to another place
Roads in Yongadeok city have been closed due to fire. People from four villages have been asked to leave their homes. About 2600 prisoners are being sent to another place from a prison in Cheongsagg County. However, South Korea’s Ministry of Justice has not confirmed this yet.
1,300 year old Buddhist monastery burnt
The emergency response center of the government said that the 1,300 -year -old Buddhist monastery has also been burnt in this fire. According to officials of Korea Heritage Service, the fire in U thisong caused a lot of damage to the monastery named Gausa in the 7th century. According to estimates, the fire has so far taken about 43,330 acres of land inside itself.
Dry winds increased difficulties
Earlier, officials from the southeastern cities and towns of the country issued instructions to people to vacate the city on Tuesday. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs of South Korea, the most damage has been in cities like Endong, neighboring County U thisong and Sanchong and Ulsan. Earlier on Tuesday, officials said that firefighters had extinguished most of the flames in some areas but the fire was again erupted due to wind and dry conditions.
