Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s emphasis on ensuring availability of drinking water in summer

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that it is our primary responsibility to provide uninterrupted and safe drinking water to every citizen of the state in summer. For this, coordination and public participation between all departments is mandatory. He stressed that concrete and decisive steps need to be taken in the direction of water conservation to deal with the water crisis, so that the state can be protected from any situation of water crisis in the coming time. The Chief Minister was addressing a high -level review meeting of the Public Health Engineering and Water Resources Department held in the Ministry.

Chief Minister Sai directed the officials to implement all the necessary measures on priority to ensure proper and sustainable availability of drinking water throughout the state during the summer season.

Keeping in mind the summer conditions, Chief Minister Sai has declared the availability of drinking water across the state as the top priority of the state government. He gave clear instructions to the officials concerned that quick and coordinated action should be ensured by taking any possibility of water crisis seriously. In this direction, the Chief Minister instructed rural development, urban administration, energy, forest and agriculture departments to work with mutual coordination.

He said that short -term and long -term strategies are equally necessary to solve drinking water problems arising in the state. For this, he stressed effective water conservation measures such as recharge pit, rain water harvesting and solar power -based pumps. At the same time, he instructed to keep strict monitoring of uncontrolled exploitation of ground water and encourage the cultivation of low water-property crops, ensuring balanced use of water resources.

Chief Minister Sai instructed the officials to not be limited to the offices only, go to the field and assess the situation themselves and ensure quick solutions to drinking water problems at the site itself.

The Chief Minister directed that within the next 15 days, a special campaign across the state should be ensured by repairing all hand pumps and public taps. He said that hand pumps in many places have only minor technical problems, which if repaired by the local mechanic in time, citizens can be saved from unnecessary troubles.

During the meeting, it was informed that the state government has made special arrangements for mobile van units across the state for speedy execution of this work, which will be active in the field for the next four months and will edit the work of maintenance and repair with priority.

Chief Minister Sai said that it is the primary responsibility of the state government to ensure the continuous availability of clean drinking water in both the mountainous and plains of the state. He asked the officials to promote water conservation measures to be ensured as per the local geo-natural conditions, so that long-term solutions can be ensured. He also gave clear instructions for wildlife to ensure availability of water during the summer season.

The Chief Minister also directed that Amrit Sarovars across the state should be developed as a model of water management, so that they can become successful examples of water storage, rainwater conservation and community participation. Emphasizing the need to remove the encroachment around ponds and reservoirs on priority, he said that protecting the water bodies is not only administrative obligation, but also collective social responsibility.

Chief Minister Sai instructed to implement the operation and maintenance process of solar energy -based drinking water schemes at a rapid pace. He said that effective implementation of these schemes can control the wastage of water sources and ensure energy saving. The Chief Minister specifically emphasized that the ‘sensor -based automated system’ should be implemented in solar drinking water schemes, so that water distribution monitoring and control can be technically possible and the states take a significant step forward towards the smart water management system.

Describing the role of Panchayati Raj institutions as extremely important in the field of water conservation, the Chief Minister said that public awareness and participation at the village level is the long -term solution to the water crisis. He directed that widespread discussion on water conservation, ground water management and Nistari water schemes should be ensured in gram sabhas, so that concrete initiatives can be taken at the community level. The Chief Minister specially directed the Panchayat and Rural Development Department to ensure well -planned implementation of these activities and to ensure active participation of gram panchayats.

This high -level meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw, Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Singh, Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Mrs. Niharika Barik, Water Resources Department Secretary Rajesh Sukumar Toppo, Public Health Engineering Department Secretary Mohammad Kaiser Abdul Haq and officials of Agriculture, Forest, Climate Change and Energy Department were present.
