New Delhi
There is talk of smartphone market, India is definitely mentioned. Because India is a big smartphone market and every company wants to enter it. Keeping the rising demand and users in mind, a new beginning has been made by the government. It is working on a mobile chip. So far this market is dominated by China and America. Apart from this, South Korean company Samsung’s smartphones also live in demand. Despite all this, there is no demand for smartphones of Indian companies. Now the government is making a plan under which Indian mobile chip can be brought.
Work is being done by the Ministry of Electronics and Department of Telecommunication (DOT). The special thing is that now both departments have come together on it. The mobile chip is being worked on by both. This work is being completed under ‘Atmaar Bharat’. A senior ministry official has informed the ET. With the help of Indian chip, the smartphone market can get boost. Also, Indian chip can be used in the demand for smartphones.
What secretary Krishnan said on Indian chip
S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Eletronics and IT, said in the Congress, “When we are talking about the mobile phone operating system being developed in India, the role of mobile phone chipset will also be important. In this direction, we are working closely with the Department of Telecom. In addition, (Ministry of Electronics and IT) is supporting it under the “India Semiconductor Mission” and “Design-Linked Incentive Scheme”.
There was also focus on semiconductor in the budget
India has focused on the semiconductor in this budget. This is the reason that the budget has been increased by 83 percent. In this way, the budget of the semiconductor has increased to around Rs 7,000 crore, while the production linked initiative for mobile phones i.e. PLI scheme has increased by 55 percent to Rs 9,000 crore. With this, it has become clear that this is also being focused on this side. At the same time, China’s semiconductor budget is about 47 billion dollars i.e. about 4 lakh crores, which is much higher than India.
AI support semiconductor chip
The semiconductor chip is also going to be important for AI. With its help, AI application can also be promoted. It is also focused on this side by Krishnan. He says, “Many of these AI apps will use the basic structure associated with telecom, bring data together, and it will be a spontaneous process that will keep all things connected.” That is, the scheme of the Government of India is also going to benefit from it.
Will jobs be affected in India?
Will AI also affect jobs due to AI in India? This question is in everyone’s mind. Krishnan has not said the answer directly. He said that due to AI in India, there is no effect on jobs. Because white collar jobs are very few here. We have less office jobs. Right now AI can affect such work which is the same daily. But at present, its impact on the Indian market may be less.
