During the search operation in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have recovered a large amount of weapons and ammunition. Officials said on Sunday that the seizure was done during a search in Bhadra area of Bhadrawah tehsil of Doda.
“During the joint search operation, 25 AK-series cartridges, a pistol, three pistol magazines and six cartridges of pistol have been recovered,” officials said officials said.
Officials said, “This campaign was based on intelligence information, in which security forces suspected that efforts are being made to revive terrorism in the area. Such weapons pose a threat to having a danger. Efforts are being made to identify those responsible for depositing these weapons.”
For the last six months, terrorists have made their presence registered in Jammu Division’s Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban and Kathua districts. The dense wild areas of these districts have been used as a place to hide by terrorists. It is believed that these are mostly staunch foreign fare terrorists.
The functioning of these terrorists has been that they attack and then hide in dense forests. The army and security forces have also changed their strategy to thwart the terrorists’ plans. Instead of being dependent on siege and search operations only, the army and security forces are now also deployed in wild areas.
More than 4,000 specialized commandos trained in forest war are now stationed in the forest areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua and Ramban districts. After a change in the strategy of the army and security forces, there has been a decrease in terrorist attacks in these districts.
