Huti extremists of Yemen have killed the powerful drone MQ-9 of America. Al-Maidin, a media outlet associated with Lebanon’s extremist organization Hizbullah, has reported that the American drone was killed in the western Dhamar province of Yemen. The report, however, did not clear who killed the American drone. After October 2023, it is the 16th American MQ-9 drone which has been killed in Yemen. The ability of this American killer machine to drop another drone has also been questioned.
MQ-9 is priced at $ 32 million
The huts killed the $ 3.2 million MQ-9 reaper drone when the US Army has launched major attacks in Yemen only last week. Following the order of US President Donald Trump, the US Army has made fatal attacks against the huts. However, the US Army has not yet made any statement about the dropping of reaper drones.
Another drone was dropped this month
In the same month, this is the second success of the huts against the American MQ-9 reaper drone. In early March, Huti extremists claimed that they had killed another American-made MQ-9 over Hudaidah district of western Yemen. The Huti Armed Forces said in a statement that their air security forces successfully targeted the drone, when it was allegedly campaigning in the Yemeni region.
The US Air Force had then reported that it had lost contact with a MQ-9 reaper drone while operating on top of the Red Sea. Al-Arabia, quoting the US official, said in his report that MQ-9 was operating in support of Posyden Orcher. The officer had said to assess to find out due to declining reason and any action related to it.
Why are there tension for India?
The fall of American MQ-9 reaper drone in Yemen is also a matter of concern for India. India has made a $ 3.6 billion deal with the US for the Predator variant of this drone. Under this deal, India will get 31 MQ-9 Reaper A (Predator) drones from the US. But the failure of these drones in Yemen has raised questions. The question is that if Huti rebels are killing it with their light missile and rocket, then how effective it will be in front of strong rivals like China and should India trust it?
