According to media reports, an accused allegedly touched the uniform and body of a female police personnel in an objectionable manner, made obscene gestures and misbehaved. An FIR has also been lodged in Ganeshpeth police station in this regard. Women police officers were involved in the RCP squad. There are also reports that the accused also tried to take off his uniform.

At the moment, it is not clear whether the accused has been identified or not and he has been arrested or not. The atmosphere of Nagpur city is not completely calm for the second consecutive day of violence. A heavy police arrangements were deployed with curfew in 11 police station areas. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called it a conspiracy. He also expressed confidence of strict action against those who attacked the policemen.

It has also been told in the complaint that the same accused had misbehaved with other women policemen present there. It is being said that the mob had made dirty gestures and made indecent comments looking at them to scare the police officers on duty.

Violence erupted in Central Nagpur around 7:30 pm on Monday night and the police was stoned. Officials said the violence spread after the rumor that a community religious book was burnt during a demonstration by a right -wing organization to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb. 34 policemen were injured in the violence. After this, curfew was imposed in sensitive areas of the city, which prevented the movement of people and vehicles.
