The Bijapur police of Chhattisgarh filed a 1200 -page charge sheet in the court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar. The police have accused four people in this murder. The four accused are currently in Jagdalpur jail. More than 70 witness statements are recorded in this charge sheet against the accused. According to the police, Mukesh was murdered by the main accused contractor Suresh Chandrakar. Mukesh had highlighted the work of inferior road construction against the contractor.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mayank Gurjar, who led the SIT to investigate the murder case, said- “During the investigation, all those things have been mentioned in this charge sheet.” He said that all efforts are being made to ensure that all four accused get severe punishment from the court.
20 lakh rupees was fined
Revealing the reason behind the murder, the accused Suresh was angry that the matter was exposed to the bad road construction work. Was met and threatened him.
Murder was done on 1 January
Mukesh was killed on the night of 1 January. He was missing since January 1, after which his brother lodged a report at the police station. After which the police started searching. On January 3, Mukesh’s body was recovered near the septic tank built in a property in Suresh in Chhatanpara. According to the police, Suresh’s brother Ritesh and an employee Mahendra Ramteke carried out the murder.
Police say Mukesh was killed several times with an iron rod and then his body was thrown into the tank, which was later covered with concrete. Suresh Chandrakar’s brother Ritesh, Dinesh and Supervisor Mahendra Ramteke were arrested three days after Suresh was arrested from Hyderabad.
Road was built at a cost of 100 crores
The entire case is of road built at a cost of Rs 100 crore from Gangalur in Bijapur district to Miratur. Mukesh revealed the scam in the construction of this road. Suresh conspired to murder after Mukesh Chandrakar’s revelations.
