67 new liquor shops are being opened in Chhattisgarh from April 1, 2025. It has been decided to open a new shop in the new excise policy. Also, the operation of the premium shop has also been allowed. With the opening of the new 67 shops, the number of shops will increase to 741. It has been decided to open these shops in the event of not having a shop between the border area and 30 km radius. Currently there are 674 domestic and foreign liquor shops in the state. Apart from this, premium shop is being operated separately in large malls or shopping complexes. The state government has decided not to close a single liquor shop in the new financial year. Due to the increase in the number of liquor shops, the revenue of the state’s revenue is also estimated to be around thousand crores. 12 and a half thousand crore revenue has been estimated from the coming year.
In the new excise policy of the Government of Chhattisgarh, in the year 2025-26, it has been decided to operate domestic foreign liquor shops by Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited. In the new policy, in the name of infrastructure development fee, Rs 5, 20, 40 and 60 rupees per bottle will be charged. Shops can be transferred to the new excise policy, but for this, it will be mandatory for the collectors to send a proposal to the Commissioner Excise before April 1, 2025.
In the new excise policy, it has been decided to open 10 percent i.e. 67 new shops. Collectors will have to send proposals for this also. The department argues that there is a 30 km gap between liquor shops in many districts of the state. Due to this, illegal liquor business thrives. At the same time, due to lack of liquor shops in the border areas, liquor of other states comes to Chhattisgarh, keeping in mind that the department has decided to increase 10 percent shop.
It is known that the status of composite shops has been kept unchanged in the new excise policy. The sale of domestic and foreign liquor shops will be at one place. Similarly, the system of yard has also been kept unchanged. For this, the department will issue separate instructions. In the new excise policy, there will be a sale of liquor in the glass bottle, on which it has been made mandatory to paste EAL in addition to holograms. A maximum of 6 bottles, 12 Adhi and 24 Puvwa liquor can be sold to a person.
Liquor shops will remain closed for four days a year
In the new excise policy of the state government, it has been decided to keep liquor shops closed for four days, under which liquor shops will be closed on 26 January, 15 August, 2 October Gandhi Jayanti and Baba Guru Ghasidas Jayanti on 18 December. Apart from this, shops will also be closed under the prohibition policy. There has been no change in the opening time of shops. Shops will open from 10 am to 10 pm and will be closed. Apart from this, shops will be closed under alcohol prohibition policy. The opening and closure of the hotel, bar and restaurant is not mentioned in the policy. Separate instructions will also be issued for this.
