Agra will now be identified for the ‘courage’ of Shivaji Maharaj, not Taj

Agra will now be identified for the ‘courage’ of Shivaji Maharaj. The Devendra Fadnavis government of Maharashtra has announced to create a grand memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Agra in its budget of 2025 -26. After this announcement, the story of Shivaji Maharaj’s escape from Aurangzeb’s captivity in Agra in 1666 is once again in the news.

After this announcement made on the 395th birth anniversary of Maratha king Shivaji, the politics of Chhatrapati is hot. Meanwhile, the film ‘Chhava’ has also created a tremendous stir in the whole country. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is once again at the center of discussion at the national level. Its supporters and critics have their own arguments after the announcement of the memorial at the Agra Fort.

The proposed site for Sammeter, Kothi Meena Bazaar, is deeply connected to one of the most dramatic episodes of Shivaji’s life. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has even said that people go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, but in future he will come to see Shivaji’s memorial in future.

This is 1666. After the treaty of Purandar, Chhatrapati Shivaji arrived in Agra with his son Sambhaji on the call of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The Mughal emperor fraudulently imprisoned Shivaji and his son. But Shivaji did not give up. Shivaji, who had always brought the enemy’s teeth with his understanding and heroism, did the feat that Aurrangzeb would never have imagined. Aurangzeb imprisoned Shivaji but fruits used to come for him.

Shivaji planned to escape from captivity. Under this, he took drama to get sick. It is said that the guards of the Mughal rule were heard by the voices of Shivaji’s groan. Every evening he started sending sweets and fruits to Brahmins and sadhus. When it was a daily talk, the watchmen became a little careless in search. He stopped paying attention to this. It is said that under the scheme, one day his half -brother Heroji, who looked like Shivaji, lay on his bed wearing his clothes and necklaces.

They covered the blanket. Outside, only one hand was visible to him, in which Shivaji’s gold was stringent. Shivaji and son left in the fruit baskets, throwing dust in the eyes of the guards. The baskets were taken out of the city. From there, Shivaji and his son came out of the baskets and reached a village where Neerji Raoji was already waiting. At the same time, Shivaji’s half -brother Heroji also left secretly with a servant. When there was no sound from Shivaji’s room for a long time, the guards suspected.

When he went inside, there was no one there. It is said that when Aurangzeb got this information, he got nervous. He grabbed his head. He sent soldiers in search of Shivaji but everyone returned empty -handed. Shivaji reached Gondwana and Golconda via Mathura, Allahabad, Varanasi and Puri to Rajgarh.
