Save the drop of water, our tomorrow will be safe with water. The 90 -day state -wide Ganga Water Promotion Campaign will begin on March 30 from the Shipra coast in Ujjain. The campaign will run from 30 March to 30 June. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav gave these instructions of ‘Jal Ganga Water Promotion’ meeting. More than 12 departments including Panchayat and Rural Development, Water Resources will participate in it. 50 thousand new farm-ponds will be constructed in the campaign. In a meeting on the implementation of the campaign, the Chief Minister directed to speed up water conservation. He instructed to pay special attention to the renovation of all water structures for water storage. At the same time, he said that panchayats and local people will now maintain water bodies. In the campaign, one lakh hydrons should be prepared across the state.

All the canals of the state will be marked as a government canal by marking the village-map with the help of Revenue Department. The dams and canals will be encroached. At the end of Nahar, where the canal is finished and found in a drain, a kilometer stone will be installed at that place. Cleanliness works will be done in the canal system of about 40 thousand kilometers long. Measures will also be taken to prevent leakage in reservoirs. They will be re -constructed in case of erosion or damage of the pond’s sail (bund). Pitching of ponds, boulder tow and ghats etc. will be done. Repair/additional construction works will be done in stopdam, barrage, wear gate and main wall, side wall, wall, apron etc. As much as the buffer zone on the edges of the water structures will be prepared as much as fencing to prevent encroachment on the edges of water structures.
