National Lok Adalat on March 8, Energy Minister Tomar said- should compromise in case of irregularities

The case of power theft and irregularities in the National Lok Adalat will be disposed of by mutual agreements on the upcoming Saturday 8 March 2025. Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar has appealed to the power consumers and users to contact the concerned power office to compromise in court to resolve the cases pending in courts under the Electricity Act 2003 Section 135. It has been decided by the Central Region Electricity Distribution Company that all domestic, all agriculture, non -domestic and up to 5 kW in the lower pressure category will be given exemption in cases to resolve pending cases in the court under Section 135.

At the presence
On the discharge of 30 percent on the payment of 30 percent on the amount of civil responsibility assessed by the company and after the period of 30 days from the date of assessment order, 100 percent discount will be given on the rate of interest charged at the rate of 16 percent per year as per the period of 30 days from the date of assessment order.

At the level of litigation
If the company defaults 20 percent on the amount of civil obligation assessed by the company and the payment of assessed amount will be given 100 percent discount on the interest amount at the rate of 16 percent per annum per year after the end of the 30 -day period from the date of the asset order.

Exemption in Lok Adalat will be given under terms and conditions
The applicant will have to pay a lump sum for the remaining civil liability and interest amount after the prescribed exemption. The consumer/user will also have to make a full payment of the outstanding amount of electrical dues against any other combination/combinations in its name on the premises and other premises under consideration. In order to get the benefit of exemption in the case of no legitimate connection in the name of the applicant, it will be mandatory to get a valid connection by the applicant and the outstanding amount (if any) against the dissected connections in the past.

Exemption in National Lok Adalat will be given only in the event of electricity theft/unauthorized use by the applicant for the first time. Consumers/users who have been exempted in earlier Lok Adalats/Courts in the cases of electrical theft/unauthorized use will not be eligible for exemption. No discounts will be given on the outstanding amount connected in general electricity bills. The exemption being given in the National Lok Adalat will be limited for cases up to Rs 10 lakh. This exemption will be applicable only to make an agreement on 8 March 2025, the National “Lok Adalat”.
