AP Tripathi, accused in the famous 2000 crore liquor scam case of Chhattisgarh, has got conditional bail from the Supreme Court. AP Tripathi will have to submit his passport to ED officials and appear before the investigating agency every week. Explain that the Special Secretary of the former Excise Department AP Tripathi was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor scam in May 2023.

What is the liquor scam of Chhattisgarh?
On May 11, 2022 in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court, the Income Tax Department filed a petition against former IAS Anil Tuteja, his sons Yash Tuteja and Soumya Chaurasia. In which it was told that in Chhattisgarh, a game of bribe, illegal brokerage is going on. Mayor Aijaz Dhebar’s brother Anwar Dhebar’s brother is involved in the game of illegal recovery. After which the ED registered a case under the PMLA Act on November 18, 2022. Till now, the matter of 2161 crore scam in the case has been mentioned in the charge sheet presented in the court.

According to the ED charge sheet, in the year 2017, the excise policy was amended and provided to sell liquor through CSMCL, but after 2019, the Kingpin of the liquor scam, Anwar Dhebar appointed Arunapati Tripathi as the MD of CSMCL, followed by the syndicate of 2161 crore scams. Arunapati Tripathi, who was the MD of CSMCL, used to permit the liquor of the favorite distiller. A commission of Rs 75 was to be given on a case of indigenous liquor, Tripathi of this commission used to prepare excelsheet and send it to Anwar Dhebar. It is alleged that the syndicate of Anwar Dhebar and Arunapati Tripathi illegally sold liquor in a fake holograg. This caused a big loss to the state’s revenue. Through criminal syndicate, only three groups of liquor were sold in CSMCL shops, including 52 percent of Kedia Group liquor, 30 percent of Bhatia Group and 18 percent of Welcome Group.
