Ban on assault with children in Madhya Pradesh, legal action will be taken against teachers

Bhopal
Sir, be careful. If you try to become hard in front of children, then your cot may stand. The Madhya Pradesh government now seems to be strict in the case of assault with children. In government and private schools of the state, students have now been banned or any kind of physical punishment.

If a teacher or other responsible employees do such an act, then legal action will be taken against them. The School Education Department has issued instructions to all the district education officers and asked them to take action in such a situation. It has also been asked to report such cases.
Action after the commission’s letter

After the letter of Child Rights Protection Commission, the School Education Department has issued these guidelines. The Commission wrote a letter to the School Education Department on 4 February 2025. Different things have been written in the instructions issued by Ravindra Kumar Singh, Additional Director of the Directorate of Public Education. Strict action instructions are being given in this case.
Doing so would be a punishable offense

It is written in the letter that physical mental harassment and discrimination is completely restricted in Section 17 (1) of the Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009. Also, doing so under Section 17 (2) is a punishable offense. Also, physical punishment is also banned under Section 323 of the Indian Penal Code. For this reason, appropriate steps should be taken to identify the incidents of physical punishment to students in government and private schools operated in all districts and to curb such situations.
Instructions to all district education officers

In this letter, instructions have also been given to all the district education officers that disciplinary and legal action should be taken by taking immediate action in case of physical punishment by a school or teacher.
