4 policemen, including Aishbagh police station in -charge (TI) Jitendra Garhwal, have been suspended on charges of negligence and connivance in the call center case of cyber fraud in Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh. Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra took this strict action on the basis of evidence. An ASI Pawan Raghuvanshi line was already attached in this case.
In fact, Afzal Khan, the kingpin of the call center operated near Prabhat intersection of the city, used to invest the people by pretending to be profitable. On receiving the complaint, the police took major action and raided the call center. 100 computers, several mobiles and 29 SIMs were seized in the raid. A case was registered against Afzal Khan and his daughter Sahiba Khan in other sections including cheating. In the investigation, information about about 50 bank accounts of call center employees also came to light.
Evidence of connivance
Investigation revealed that Aishbagh TI Jitendra Garhwal and some policemen were meeting with call center operators. Garhwal and three other policemen were immediately suspended after the police commissioner got evidence. This action was taken after serious allegations of negligence and involvement in the investigation of cyber fraud. ASI Pawan Raghuvanshi had already been attached to the line in this case.
Police commissioner’s tough stand
Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra said that no laxity will be tolerated in the investigation against cyber crime. This suspension is considered a big step towards ensuring cleanliness and accountability in the police department. The investigation is still on, and the search for other suspects of the call center has been intensified.
