Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the policy of rich agricultural tradition and sustainable development of Madhya Pradesh is now attracting the attention of global investors. Investors at the Global Investors Summit Bhopal have submitted investment proposals of more than Rs 4,000 crore in agriculture, food processing and milk production sector. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav described it as a milestone for the green and white revolution of the state. He said that Madhya Pradesh will play an important role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to make India a global “food basket”.
Madhya Pradesh leads in organic farming
Madhya Pradesh has already become the largest organic farming state in the country. The state, which has contributed 40% to the country’s total organic farming, has now set a target to expand the region from 17 lakh hectares to 20 lakh hectares. The government is providing free solar pumps to farmers so that they can produce in eco -friendly ways. There has also been a significant increase in horticulture sector in the state. In the past years, the area of ​​horticulture crops has increased from 27 lakh hectares to 32 lakh hectares. This will also directly benefit the fruit and vegetable producers of the state.
Madhya Pradesh will become a hub of milk production
The state has joined the leading states of the country in milk production. Currently, Madhya Pradesh, which contributed 9% to the country’s total milk production, is now moving ahead with the target to increase it by 20%. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Sanchi brand has made its strong identity in the national and international market. At present, 591 lakh kg of milk is being produced in the state at present. With this, the state has become the third largest milk producing state in the country.
Flood of investment in innovation and food process
A special session focused on the theme “Seed-to-Shelf” was held at GIS-Bhopal, in which investors recognized the state’s immense possibilities. 8 food parks, 2 mega food parks, 5 agro-processing clusters and a logistics park are being set up in the state. A assistance amount of Rs 930 crore has been sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Micro Food Pro-Conservation Scheme. More than 70 large industrial units and more than 3,800 micro, small and medium enterprise units are already active here. The processing of agricultural products is being promoted through them.
Irrigation projects will expand the agricultural sector
The irrigated area has increased rapidly in the state. In the year 2003, only 3 lakh hectares of land was irrigated, which has now reached 50 lakh hectares. The government has targeted to increase it to 1 crore hectares by the year 2028-29. This target will be possible with irrigation projects on Sadanira rivers like Narmada, Chambal, Tapti, Betwa, Son, Kshipra, Kalisindh and Tawa.
New employment opportunities from GIS-Bhopal
An investment of Rs 4,000 crore in the Food Pro-culture sector in GIS-Bhopal will create more than 8,000 employment opportunities in the state. With the increase in food processing industries, farmers will be able to get better prices of their product directly, which will further boost the state’s economic strength.
Investment proposals received in GIS-Bhopal for green and white revolution have given Madhya Pradesh an opportunity to take strong steps towards making the country’s “food basket”.
