In Web Summit Qatar 2025, a big announcement has been made about UPI. India’s Unified Payments System (UPI) is going to start full rollout in Qatar. India’s ambassador Vipul has given this information in Web Summit. UPI is a payment system, in which payment can be transferred by entering the QR code or mobile number.
Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) has successfully integrated with the point of sale system. This information has been received from media reports. Indian ambassador Vipul gave this information during the Web Summit Qatar held in the past Doha.
After this full roolout of UPI, Indian people will be able to do financial transactions easily in Qatar. Indians will benefit from this. There is a strong partnership in the sector of startups and innovation of India and Qatar.
Second Edition of Web Summit Qatar
Significantly, the second edition of Web Summit was held recently in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Many big companies from all over the world including India took part in it. From Microsoft, Google and Sissco to Tick Talk and Snapchat also showcased their technology in this event.
Many Indian startups also joined the Web Summit under Startup India. In Qatar, India, Ambassador Vipul innovated the Indian pavilion and said that this global stage will benefit the Indian startup.
What is UPI?
UPI is a payment system, with the help of which any Indian can transfer money immediately. It can be sent from 1 paise to a hefty amount. With the help of UPI, the amount is transferred between different banks.
The UPI, the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has created it and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulates it. This is a safe system. Gradually, it is also expanding in many countries of the world.

Apart from India, UPI also runs in many countries. UPI is used in 7 other countries besides India. It includes the names of Sri Lanka, Mauritius, France, UAE, Singapore, Nepal and Bhutan. Qatar will also be included in this list soon.
