UP Warriors team will play domestic matches in Lucknow for the first time

For the first time in the third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), the team of UP Warriors will play their home ground, Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The team reached Lucknow on 28 February. The team captained by Deepti Sharma will take on Gujarat giants on March 3, Mumbai Indians on 6 March and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 8 March.

Captain Deepti Sharma said in the press conference, “We have waited to play on our home ground for two seasons and now this dream is being fulfilled.” Playing in front of domestic audience is always special, and we are fully prepared to give our best. At the same time, team coach John Lewis said that adaptability will be important for the success of UP Warriors. He expressed confidence that the team has a balanced combination and the players are ready for the challenge.

Young player Vrinda Dinesh said, playing for UP Warriors is a matter of great pride for me. I have enjoyed this experience so far and am excited to play in Lucknow.

Jinisha Sharma, director of Capri Sports, said that UP Warriors are contributing not only in cricket but also in women empowerment, education and development. He informed that the team is trying to connect young girls with cricket in collaboration with UP Cricket Association and schools.
