A wonderful glimpse of the prosperous cultural heritage of Bundelkhand was seen at the ‘Deshj’ ceremony held on Saturday, March 01 at the ‘Adivarta’ Tribal Folk Art State Museum, Khajuraho run by the Madhya Pradesh Government Culture Department.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp and the reception of the artists, and then at 5 pm, various artists mesmerized the audience with Bundeli folk songs and congratulatory dance performances. The special attraction of this day was the amazing performances of singing and dance of the famous folk songs of Bundelkhand. Rupram Patel, Naval Kishore, Ramrati Chaurasia, Saroj Kumar Rawat, Neetu Choraasia and Harprasad Rackwar tied their art as prominent artists at the program.
In this ceremony, Shashi Kushwaha performed a brilliant congratulatory dance, which was highly appreciated by the audience. In these presentations, Dheeraj Ahirwar (Dholak), Rajju Vishwakarma (Benjo), Aswani Kushwaha (Harmonium), Ghanshyam Prajapati (Nagadia), Pattu Ahirwar (Jhika), Nand Kishore Kushwaha (Majira), and Mr. Rohit Mishra (Majira), and Mr. Rohit Mishra (Majira), also made the atmosphere more vibrant.
The next day of the ceremony will also be presented on 02 March 2025 with its colorful and cultural variations. On this day, only Gudumbja dance by Kumar and his partner Dindori, Bundeli folk songs by Gayatri Devi and Bagheli folk songs by Kalyani Mishra and his partner Rewa.
This unique event is held on every Saturday and Sunday at ‘Adivarta’ Tribal Folk Kala State Museum Khajuraho, which consists of genres like dance, dramat, singing and playing. The program provides an important platform to save and promote folk art, which not only promoted the art of Bundelkhand, but also gives a golden opportunity to convey it to the new generation.
