Environmental fine of Rs 10.51 lakh on 14 industries in Raigad

The administration has taken strict action for violating environmental safety rules during raw materials, products and waste transport in Raigad district. In the inspection action conducted by the Joint Investigation team constituted on the instructions of Collector Karthikeya Goyal, a total environmental compensation fee of Rs 10.51 lakh has been imposed on 14 industries.

Regional Environment Officer Ankur Sahu said that the District Level Investigation Committee constituted during 15 to 21 February 2025 conducted intensive investigation into raw materials, products and waste transport vehicles in various areas including Chandrapur, Kodatarai, Hamirpur, Dhimrapur, Tamnar, Gharghoda and Palgadha. During this time, many vehicles were found transporting raw materials in the open without a torpoline cover, which increased the possibility of spreading environmental pollution. In addition, some vehicles 5 cm. There was a lack of free board space, causing the danger of falling material. Many vehicles were not named the name of the concerned nodal officer, which is a clear violation of the rules.
