Pakistani policemen do not want to do duty in Champions Trophy, 100 suspended

More than 100 policemen of Pakistan’s Punjab Police have been dismissed from service for refusing to perform security duty handed over during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The police gave this information on Tuesday. The dismissed personnel were associated with different branches of the police force.

According to a Punjab Police official, more than 100 police officers and employees have been removed from their posts when they were found to be absent from duty on several occasions during the Champions Trophy, while many others refused to perform their assigned works. He said, “Police officers were appointed to provide security for teams traveling between the hotels specified from the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. But they either remained absent or they refused to take their responsibilities.

The official said that IGP Punjab Usman Anwar has taken cognizance of the case and ordered strict action against the policemen concerned. He said, “When it comes to the security of the international tournament, there is no scope for negligence.”

Although there has been no official statement about why the dismissed policemen refused to perform their official duty, but many local media reports show that the dismissed policemen were feeling extremely burdened due to long -term duty.
