Jammu
India and Pakistan held a flag meeting on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to discuss the incidents of firing on the Line of Control. The Brigadier level flag meeting was held at the Line of Control Crossing Point in Chakan Da Bagh in the district. According to officials, a flag meeting was held to reduce tension in view of the recent firing on LoC and an IED explosion incidents. Two soldiers, including a captain, died in the IED blast.

Officials said, “Both sides admitted that it is necessary to maintain peace and harmony on the boundaries. The meeting lasted for about 75 minutes and took place in a cordial atmosphere. During the meeting, the two sides agreed to honor the ceasefire agreement in the widespread interest of peace on the borders. ” The ceasefire was declared in 2021 by the forces of India and Pakistan. Due to this ceasefire agreement, the tension along the Line of Control decreased to a significant extent. However, there were some worrying incidents in the past.

On February 11, in addition to the martyrdom of two Indian Army personnel in Akhnoor sector of the Line of Control, two other soldiers were injured in firing from Pakistan beyond the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts. The Indian Army was given a befitting reply to the firing crossing the border in the Poonch sector. According to reports, there have been some casualties towards Pakistan. Army and security forces are taking strict vigil in LoC and inner areas, as the traditional routes of infiltration in this winter are opening due to low snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir. Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over two security review meetings on Jammu and Kashmir. During those meetings, he ordered the security forces to ensure zero infiltration and zero tolerance towards terrorists.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also recently presided over two security meetings, one in Srinagar and the other in Jammu. The Lieutenant Governor asked the police and security forces to end the terrorist network by targeting terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs) and supporters.
