The Modi government at the Center has once again made a digital strike on the Chinese Linked Mobile App. The government has closed 119 Chinese mobile apps in one stroke. The apps that have been closed, especially include video and voice chat platforms. Most of the mobile apps which have been closed, most of the apps are from Chinese and Hongkank.
Government’s big digital strike after 2020
According to the money control report, the decision of such a large number of mobile ban has come after the year 2020. At that time too, the government had announced a ban on Chinese apps in a similar way, which included popular apps like Tiktok and Sharei. Like last time, mobile apps have been discontinued this time, giving the reason for national security concerns.
When and when the government stopped mobile apps
Let us know that on 20 June 2020, the government closed around 100 Chinese apps. A similar ban was imposed on Chinese mobile apps in 2021 and 2022. However, the number of mobile apps banned at that time was less.
Under which law the government takes action
The government has ordered the banning of mobile apps under section 69A of the IT Act, which has been banned, some of the apps from Singapore and America, United Kingdom and Australia. Section 69A of IT X gives the Central Government the power to stop online content access due to National Security and Public Order.
15 apps have been removed so far
Most of the apps that have been banned are currently for download. According to the report, only 15 apps have been removed from Google Play Store so far. Out of the 119 apps blocked by the Government of India, only three apps have been given the names. It includes Singapore based video chat and gaming platform Chillchat, Chinese developer’s Changapp and Australian App Honeycam. The government has not released the list of apps banned from security region.
