High court banned PG counseling, next hearing on 25th

A petition was filed in the High Court alleging disturbances in the postgraduate medical course admission process in Chhattisgarh. It was told by the petitioners that they are serving doctors. Has achieved good rank in 2024 entrance exam. According to the rules, it is mandatory to complete three years of service by 31 January 2024 for eligibility under the serving category, but during counseling it was found that many ineligible candidates have been given the benefit of the wrongly serving category. While preliminary hearing the case, the bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Aggarwal has banned counseling. Now the case will be heard on 25 February.

Actually Dr. Yashwant Rao and Dr. P. Rajasekhar have filed a petition in the High Court. It said that during counseling for admission to medical PG, he came to know that many ineligible candidates were given the benefit of wrongly serving category. The authorities extended the calculation of service period from the cutoff date, which also considered the unqualified candidates to be eligible. He complained of this disturbance in the department, but no action was taken. Responsible officials have certified a private candidate in the serving category.

Investigation revealed that the calculation of the service period was extended till 31 January 2024. If the cutoff date was followed, that candidate would not have been eligible. During the hearing, the Advocate General also admitted that the complaint was looking correct. The High Court found that the private candidate was allotted a seat after the cutoff date. The High Court has ordered a stay on counseling. Also directed that this order will apply to all candidates with equal status not only in person. The Advocate General has been instructed to inform the concerned authorities about this order.
