Madhya Pradesh has not received a single IPL match after 2018 for the seventh consecutive year. Fans here are disappointed due to non -hosting of IPL. This was believed to be after the T20 match between India and Afghanistan at the Holkar Stadium here on 14 January last year.
So far nine international matches and as many IPL matches have been held at Holkar Stadium in Indore. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the IPL 2025 program on 16 February. The IPL will start from March 22 and the final will be played on 25 May 2025.
This time 74 matches in IPL will be played in 13 cities. It will include 12 double-headers (two matches in the same stadium). These matches will start at 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm. The first match will be held between the previous champions KKR and RCB at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The final match will also be played in Kolkata itself.

Kings XI Punjab made a distance with free pass
The Holkar Stadium was built by Kings XI Punjab in 2017, 8 IPL matches that took place on this ground from 2011 to 2018, but in 2018 Kings XI Punjab distanced the distance from Indore after a dispute over the free passes. After this, no franchise turned to Holkar Stadium. Kings XI’s mistress and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta expressed strong displeasure over the free passes. Punjab’s Honor Preity Zinta accused the Indore administration and police of harassing the ticket pass.
Sachin, Gavaskar has appreciated the stadium
Players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Gautam Gambhir have praised Holkar Stadium. While releasing the IPL schedule in 2023, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also said that the states and cities whose teams are not in the IPL should have at least one or two matches.
Sachin Tendulkar Holkar Stadium was appreciated during the matches of the Road Safety Cricket Series held in Indore in 2022. Gautam Gambhir has also advocated organizing IPL in Indore. Gambhir has said that Indore, Nagpur, Jodhpur are all good cities. Infrastructure is present here, IPL matches should be held in these cities.
