POS machine will be monitored
Let us know that 37% liquor shops have increased in 20 years in Madhya Pradesh. Now additional fees will have to be paid to increase the space in restaurants and bars too. The decision to install POS machines has been taken to monitor the sale of liquor. This will help the government to stop tax evasion. Also, it will be known which shop is selling how much liquor. This is an important step towards increasing transparency.
Alcohol ban in 19 areas from 1 April
The Madhya Pradesh government has issued a notification of liquor ban in 19 religious and holy areas from 1 April. Under this, Ujjain Municipal Corporation, Omkareshwar Nagar Panchayat, Mandleshwar Nagar Panchayat, Orchha Nagar Panchayat, Maheshwar Nagar Panchayat, Datia Municipality, Maihar Municipality, Chitrakoot Nagar Panchayat, Panna Municipality, Multai Municipality, Mandsaur Municipality, Mandla Municipality, Amarkantak Nagar Panchayat, Salkanpur Gram Panchayat, Barman Kala Gram Panchayat, Linga Gram Panchayat, Kundalpur Gram Panchayat, Bandakpur Gram Panchayat and Barman Khurd Gram Panchayat are included.
Liquor shop will not run without POS machine
It has also been said in the new excise policy that liquor will not be sold without POS i.e. Point of Sale machine. At the same time, additional fees will also have to be paid for increasing the seating space in the restaurant and bar. Significantly, in Madhya Pradesh, 37 percent liquor shops have increased in the last 20 years.
Timing of alcoholism and restaurant bar
According to the guideline of the new excise policy 2025, the opening time of liquor shop will be from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm. At the same time, the timing of selling liquor for restaurant bar, hotel, resort, club etc. will be from 10 am to 11.30 pm. However, liquor can be drunk in bar-restaurant, club, resort etc. till 12 noon. Bar-club or restaurant owners can increase the time limit of selling and drinking liquor by paying additional fees. Significantly, on Friday, a total of 4 policies have been amended with the liquor policy chaired by CM Mohan Yadav.
