9 militants arrested from Manipur, were involved in recovery and smuggling of arms

President’s rule has come into force after the resignation of CM Biren Singh in Manipur. Meanwhile, security forces have arrested 9 militants from various banned organizations from Eastern Imphal and Thobal districts. The police gave this information on Saturday. Officials said four active members of the banned Congress Communist Party (Noon) involved in the kidnapping and recovery activities were arrested on Friday from Chingdomok area of ​​Thobal district.

In another operation, security forces on Friday arrested four active members of KCP (PWG) involved in forcible recovery activity from Khabeisi area of ​​Imphal Eastern district.

Police arrested an active member of UNLF (Pambai) from Nungoi Avang Likai area in Imphal Eastern district. He said, “The arrested person was involved in recovery activities and smuggling of weapons and ammunition around the city of Imphal.”

President’s rule came into force in the state

After Biren Singh’s resignation as CM in Manipur, now President’s rule has been implemented in the state. The law and order situation remains critical due to violence between Maetai and Cookie communities in Manipur. On Sunday, Biren Singh met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and resigned from the post of Chief Minister. From then on, the round of meetings of BJP leaders had started to seal the name of the new Chief Minister. Manipur in -charge Sambit Patra was meeting with veteran BJP leaders. However, now President’s rule has been implemented in the state.

According to Article 174 (1) of the Constitution, it is mandatory to call state assemblies within six months of their last meeting. The last assembly session in Manipur was called on 12 August 2024. But the deadline for calling the assembly session on Wednesday i.e. on Wednesday is over.
