The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf Amendment Bill presented its report in Parliament on Thursday, but the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has strongly objected to it. The Muslim Personal Law Board organized a press conference and said that the rights of Sikhs and Hindus on their property in India also have the right to Muslims.
Current law on Waqf under Indian Constitution
Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, said that the current law on Waqf falls under the Indian Constitution and is under the right to religious freedom. He told that Sikhs run their property in their own way and Hindus are also independent, they have no objection to this. But he said that according to the new bill, two non-Muslims will be included in the Waqf Board and it will not be necessary for the government to be a Muslim appointed in this board, which the board was misunderstood by the board.
The chairman of the Law Board said- “The fight is not a Hindu-Muslim, but a fight for its property and rights”
Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said that it is useless to say that one day the whole country will come under Waqf, it is the illusion being spread by the government. He clarified that his fight is not of Hindu-Muslim, but it is a fight for his own property and rights. He said that in the Constitution we have been given the right to run religious matters and they also expect support from the just Hindus in this fight. In this way, the Muslim Personal Law Board clarified its position against the new bill related to Waqf and termed it a violation of the rights given under the Constitution.
