Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Edal Singh Kanshana has said that the Seed Certification Institution has been formed by the Government of India under Section 8 of the Seeds Act 1966. The main function of the institution is to authenticate quality seeds as per the prescribed standard. Certified seeds are increasing the productivity of crops in the state. Important work of seed certification was done by the seed certification institution over a period of last one year. In Kharif-2024, 1.24 lakh hectare area was registered for seed certification and 1.5 million quintal seeds were certified. In the Rabi season, an area of 1.07 lakh hectares was registered for seed certification and 21.86 lakh quintal seeds were certified. In summer-2024, 9021 hectare area was registered for seed certification and 85 thousand quintal seeds were certified.
The 2D QR code is being used on the Tags of the Seed Certification Institution. It can be scanned by any endroid phone. On scanning, the certificate issued for certified seed lot will open, in which all information of seed lot is available. Crop, variety, lot number, series of tags, how many tags were released, packing size, packing quantity, seed testing results, germination, physical purity, other crops, other identified seeds, weeds, moisture, by which farmer and institution The seeds were produced and all the information can be seen through the scan by packing and tagging by which assistant seed certification officer.
