Excise Department Secretary cum Commissioner Ms. R. Sangeeta took a departmental review meeting in Nawa Raipur today. This meeting was attended by Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited, Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation, Uddasta Dal, and Excise Officers from various districts. In the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the action plans to review departmental activities and to achieve revenue goals. Ms. Sangeeta reviewed the relative progress of the prescribed revenue goals from April 2024 to January 2025 and directed to prepare a detailed action plan for the coming months.
Excise Secretary Ms. Sangeeta directed to take strict action on the construction, collection, transport and sale of illegal liquor and narcotics to ensure compliance with the State Election Commission in view of the local elections. He was particularly emphasized on increasing vigilance in the excise police station and investigative posts located on the inter -state borders and carrying out special campaigns.
The Excise Secretary directed the officials to ensure the availability of liquor in liquor shops as per the demand of consumers and not sell at higher than the prescribed rate. He instructed to give a time-bound and quality solution to the complaints received through “favorite” mobile app and toll-free number 14405 to pay special attention to customer convenience and grievance solutions.
Training and financial discipline for excise employees
The Excise Secretary directed to organize training programs for the Excise constables working in the field and to prepare an action plan by coordinating at the district level. Also, the liquor shops were also directed to ensure strictly in the shops, not selling at higher than the prescribed rate and no adulteration in the liquor. The Secretary said that the employees working in the liquor shops should be paid on time and the system to deposit the amount received from the sale should be ensured in the bank as per rules. He clarified that if negligence is found in this work, action will be taken against the concerned cash collection / bank agency as per rules. Necessary instructions were also given in the meeting for pension, compassionate appointment and speedy disposal of pending cases in the court. Mr. Shyam Lal Dhawade, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation, Special Secretary (Excise) Mr. Devendra Singh Bhardwaj and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
