The central government is expanding the scope of the gas pipeline in the country after delivering LPG in every house under the Ujjwala scheme. The government is taking steps to supply gas from house to house through the pipeline. Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) authorized 307 geographical areas (GA) covering about 100 percent of the total geographical area of ​​the country for the development of CGD network. A statement issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that the government has taken various steps for the development of CGD sector in the country. These include these remedies among other things-

  • Allocation of domestic natural gas to CGD sector
  • Notification for supply of domestic gas through mode available for PNG purpose (including cascade mode).
  • Providing public utility status to CGD projects.
  • Guidelines for the use of PNG in defense residential area/unit lines.
  • Guidelines to arrange public sector enterprises to arrange PNG in their respective residential complexes.
  • CPWD and NBCC will arrange PNG in all government residential premises.

The government regularly holds interactions and meetings with the state governments for the development of CGD network in the respective states and resolves the challenges in this regard. Piped natural gas (PNG) connections are provided under the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network. These connections are given through the institutions authorized by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).

Let us tell you, PNGRB has authorized 307 geographical areas (GA) covering about 100 percent of the total geographical area of ​​the country spread over about 733 districts of 34 states and union territories for the development of CGD network.

In addition, PNGRB has authorized 11 geographical regions (GA) (including 3GA spread in Bihar and Jharkhand) covering the entire Jharkhand state for the development of CGD network.

Pipeline for LPG will come in every house

He said that after the expansion of the gas pipeline, more than 82 percent of the land area of ​​the country and 98 percent of the population will be supplied through the pipeline. The process of lyrics for laying gas pipeline will start from May 12.

At the same time, while telling about the hilly areas, he said that gas pipeline will not come in the eastern areas of the country and some inaccessible areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that LPG will be cheaper and much better than LPG cylinder.

1000 LNG stations will be built

During the Kovid epidemic, free LPG cylinders were given to the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme. Today the number of gas cylinders is more than 30 crores while in 2014 it was 14 crores. The minister said that we will try to cover the entire population and work will be done rapidly. Under this scheme, 1000 LNG stations will be installed.
