Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the formation of a new government under the leadership of Prime Minister Bart de Waver in the European country Belgium. He spoke of further strengthening the relations between India and Belgium. PM Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Hearty congratulations on Prime Minister Bart de Waver on taking charge. I am ready to work together to further strengthen India-Belgium relations, to increase our cooperation on global affairs. Wish you a successful tenure. “
The new government was sworn in on Monday after the political deadlock in Belgium for months. Prime Minister Bart de Waver and 14 ministers of his cabinet were sworn in in front of Belgian King Philip at the swearing -in ceremony held at the Royal Palace of Brussels. Bart de Waver Flemish Nationalist Party is the leader of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA). This is the first time a Flemish Nationalist is leading the federal government.
The new government is known as the “Arizona alliance”, which includes 5 major political parties. These are N-VA, Flemish Christian Democrats, Socialist Vurite, French-Speech Reformist Movement (MR) and Middle-Medium Less Anges. These parties signed an agreement after a hard negotiation of budget deduction, tax growth and pension reforms, which aims to stabilize the public financial position of Belgium.
In July last year, King Philip assigned the task of forming a federal government to Bart de Waver. He interacted with several political parties to form an alliance, including French-speaking Movement Reformator (MR) and Lesge, Dutch-speaking Christian Democrats (CD & V) and Socialist Wurite.
Issues such as socio-economic reforms, investment in healthcare, increasing purchasing power of low-income people and providing employment to unemployed were prominent in coalition negotiations. The formation of a new government is an important step for Belgium, as it ends long -standing political instability and paves the way for the country to pursue economic and social reforms.
