The controversy has arisen after the video of a female professor to ‘marry’ a student in a class at a government university in West Bengal, after which an inquiry was ordered. The officers provided this information. The professor, however, claimed that it was a play which was part of his subject’s studies.
Officials said that the case is related to the Psychology Department of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Technology (Makaut) in Hringhata in Nadia district.
In the video, like a bride, a professor and first-year student can be seen playing various customs of Hindu Bengali wedding including ‘Sindoor Daan’ and ‘Mala Badal’ (Jayamala) in class.
Officials said the controversy arose when the video went viral, after which the university formed a three -member inquiry committee and sought clarification from the professor.
He said that the professor told the university officials that it was a ‘psycho-drama’, which was part of his subject and nothing is real in it.
The professor claimed that the video was recorded only to the department and it was ‘leaked’ with the intention of tarnishing the image of the Department of Psychology. Officials said that the professor has been asked to go on leave till the investigation is completed.
MAKAUT acting Vice Chancellor Tapas Chakraborty said, ‘The professor has clarified that it was a part of his subject. The video was not for external spread. ‘ He said that a committee is investigating the case which includes three women faculty members of other departments.
In the conversation, the professor said that this was part of the plan of the Festers party -linked project and was shown incorrectly. He said that the video has been leaked to deliberately tarnish his image. He has also said that she can file a complaint with the police against the people responsible for this leak.
He said, ‘It is shown incorrectly. This was part of the project, which we planned for the fosters party. It went viral under a conspiracy against me. Those who have tried to discredit me, I will file a police complaint against them.
