4800 km in an hour! China created a ‘supersonic’ plane flying near space

Beijing

Chinese private companies have got their iron in the field of technology and engineering. Be it big rockets or advanced satellites or powerful drones, Chinese companies have mastered making them. A company is preparing to overtake four steps ahead. Beijing’s Lingkong Tianxing Technology (Space Transportation) has introduced a prototype of a superfast sub-arbitrary airline. The company claims that this supersonic aircraft – Cuantianhou (Soaring Monkey) will make long distance trips.

This aircraft will fly at Mach-4 speed!

According to the company, this aircraft can fly double speed from Concorde i.e. Mach-4 (4752 km per hour). This aircraft can operate into the nearest space, ie in the range of 20–100 km above the surface of the Earth. 4,500 kg weight can also be loaded on Cuantianhou which makes it worth both passenger and cargo worth being used. Its first Test flight is proposed in 2026.

Why is Cuantianhou so special?

According to the Global Times report, the company presented Cuantianhou’s prototype in front of everyone on Monday. Chief Engineer Deng Fan told during a press conference that the prototype of Cuantianhou would be 7 meters long and 1.5 MT. Its aerodynamic design reduces air drag and increases flight efficiency.

Deng said that this aircraft can fly up to a speed of Mac 4.2 (about 5,000 kmph). This is about five times faster than a normal jetiner. Cuantianhou will be taken to a height of about 20 kilometers via a career rocket, from where it will continue the flight itself. Most of its journey will be in ‘Near Space’ (height of 20-100 km).

The aircraft will run with an Advancer Ramarotor Dettlement Engine. It is a rotary detonation engine, rotor compressor and combination of ramjet technology. This engine is called Jindou-400s and its weight will be 100 kg. It will produce a thrust of at least 4,000 Newton.

Return of supersonic flights?

Deng said that despite the fast speed of this supersonic aircraft, passengers will be completely safe from the effects of acceleration. The Chinese company is trying to revive supersonic journey. Earlier, Concorde Supersonic aircraft flew for the first time in 1969.

Concorde commercial use started in 1976, but this aircraft could not run for a long time due to its loud voice, high ticket prices, and impact on the environment.
