Jammu
The budget session of the Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Assembly is proposed in March. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the budget session, but various political parties have started raising objections regarding its timing. He wants it to be organized in February only. It is noteworthy that on January 20, in the state cabinet meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a proposal was passed to call the budget session in March. This proposal has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor for approval.
This will be the first budget session of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in the last eight years. The last budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir State Assembly was held in February 2018 and the then state government fell in June 2018. After this, assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir only in the year 2024. During this period, Jammu and Kashmir became a union territory from a full-fledged state. The upcoming budget session is going to be the first budget session of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. The budget for the year 2025-26 will be presented in it. The month of Ramadan of the Islamic calendar will begin in March itself. During Ramadan itself, people of the Muslim community fast throughout the day and spend most of their time in worship.
Will not be able to talk on issues related to voters
People’s Conference Chairman Sajjad Gani Lone said that it would not be right to call a session of the Assembly in March when Pak Ramzan will be held. This will cause inconvenience to most of the MLAs. More than half of the MLAs in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly are Muslims and all will be employed during that period. The state government should understand the seriousness of this matter. During Pak Ramzan, many MLAs will not be able to participate in the proceedings of the House and will also not be able to talk on the issues related to the voters of their respective areas.
Appeal to call the session in February
An MLA of the ruling National Conference, on the condition of anonymity, said that it is true that no work stops in Pak Ramzan, every activity related to life continues, people go about their business, but still Ramzan Session should not be called in . During Pak Ramzan, we all keep fast and stay in mosques most of the time. Therefore, it is better that the session be called in February, earlier also it has been held in February.
How was the proposal to call the budget session in March passed?
Jammu and Kashmir Awami Ittihad Party MLA Sheikh Khurshid said that if we say that this session should not be called in Ramzan, then we will be called fundamentalists. Pak Ramzan is the month of worship and fasting. When someone is fasting, there are many restrictions on him, in such a situation it becomes a little difficult to participate in the assembly session and fulfill his responsibility towards his voters. We are not able to understand how despite knowing everything, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has passed the proposal to call the budget session in March. Well, no final decision has been taken yet in this regard and we hope that the government will definitely take promising action in this matter.
