Strict action can now be taken against the cement company in case of sudden deterioration in the health of the students of Khapradih School due to the smelly gas coming out from Shree Cement. Collector Deepak Soni, taking a strict stance in the matter, has issued a notice to the company management seeking their reply and has given instructions to improve the system immediately.
Let us tell you, recently the health of many children suddenly deteriorated in Khaparadih school of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district. In this case, Shree Cement Plant was accused that the health of the children deteriorated due to the smelly gas coming out from the FR of the plant. On the day of the incident, Collector-SP immediately reached the hospital to meet the children. After the incident, he immediately formed an investigation team and got the investigation done, in which the negligence of Shree Cement Company has come to light. After receiving the investigation report, the Collector has taken the matter seriously and issued a notice to Shree Cement.
According to the information, after the instructions of the Collector, Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Simga, Assistant Director, Industrial Health and Safety, Assistant Director, Hygiene Lab Raipur, Manager, District Trade and Industry Center Balodabazar, Regional Officer, Environmental Protection Board, Raipur. , Assistant Engineer, Environmental Protection Board, Raipur and Scientist, Environmental Protection Board, Raipur conducted a joint investigation of Shri Cement Plant Khaparadih on 22 January 2025.
Investigation found that rules under the Factories Act 1948 were being violated in the Shree Cement plant. On this, Assistant Director Industrial Health and Safety instructed factory occupier Neeraj Akhauri and factory manager Vijay Aggarwal to immediately improve the system and issued a show cause notice and sought reply within 7 days. If this is not done, a warning has also been given that further strict action will be taken.
According to the information received, during the investigation, the material and hazardous waste stored in AFR located in the North West of the factory was detected by the Assistant Director, Hygiene Lab and the AFR material kept in Line-3 was detected by the Hygiene Lab through a multi gas detector. Harmful gas was tested. Investigation found that there was no presence of harmful gas in the area.
During investigation in the factory by the Assistant Director, Industrial Health and Safety, it was found that hazardous waste was kept in the open in the AFR storage installed in Line 3 of the AFR storage factory located in the North-West of the factory. It was found that drains and pits were not constructed as per rules for drainage. SOP and MSDS were found not to be displayed. It was found that the workers were not provided with work-appropriate safety equipment, which is a violation of Section 12, Section 7 A 2 (b), 7 A2 (a) and Rule 73 (1), Rule 127 and Rule 128 of the Factory Act 1948. .
Regional Office, Chhattisgarh During inspection of the factory by Environment Protection Board, Raipur, it was found that hazardous waste was being stored in the open in the AFR storage installed in Line 3 of the AFR storage factory located in the North West of the factory. Fugitive dust emissions were found during transportation of vehicles in the internal routes of the industry and the housekeeping system was found to be not satisfactory.
Assistant Director, Industrial Health and Safety took legal action regarding non-compliance of rules in Shree Cement plant and issued further orders to the AFR storage area, AFR feeder and AFR shredder machine of the factory under Section 40 (2) of the Factories Act 1948. Has been sealed, restricting till.
Now it remains to be seen whether the state government including the district administration really takes strict action on this big negligence of Shree Cement, or just fulfills the demand.
