Indian cricket is not called a mine of talent for nothing. Now take Gujarat’s left arm spinner Siddharth Desai. Siddharth took 9 wickets in a match against Uttarakhand in the sixth round of Ranji Trophy. Siddharth Desai, who created a stir by taking 9 wickets in an innings in the match being played in Ahmedabad, has become the best bowler for Gujarat. If Harsh Patwal of Uttarakhand had got one wicket, Desai would have got all 10 wickets in one innings.

It was because of his killer bowling that Gujarat team bowled out Uttarakhand for 111 runs on the first day of the match. Siddharth Desai produced India’s third-best performance in the domestic red-ball competition, surpassing Ashish Zaidi’s figures of 9/45. Uttarakhand decided to bat first, but this decision proved to be fatal for them.

When Desai took the first wicket, there was no stopping the sequence of wickets. For Uttarakhand, only Avneesh Sudha and Shashwat Dangwal could cross the 30 mark and took Uttarakhand’s score beyond 100. Desai kept taking wickets continuously in the match and came close to not only equaling Anshul Kamboj’s record but also bettering it. However, Vishal Jaiwal dismissed Harsh Patwal as the last batsman to bowl out Uttarakhand for 111 runs. In this way Desai missed out on equaling Anshul’s record.
