On the basis of secret information, Madhya Pradesh Central Region Electricity Distribution Company has registered 808 cases of theft of electricity and recovered more than Rs 18 lakh including billing of more than 63 lakh. The company said that under the reward scheme on the Vigilance Billing Portal, an online arrangement has been made for the informant to give confidential information related to electricity theft and other irregularities.
Now in the inframar section of the online portal, information about theft and irregularities in electricity can be given by any individual or consumer as well as outsourced personnel. For this, on the basis of theft or irregularity found in the investigation done after giving information, after full payment of the billed amount is received, the concerned informer and the concerned officers and employees are given the prescribed reward. The company said that till January 20, 2025, a total of 808 cases have been registered on the company’s portal for payment of incentive amount under the scheme. Out of these, after investigation, electricity theft or other irregularities were found in 280 cases. Panchnamas have been prepared after reaching the spot. Vigilance team has so far recovered Rs 18 lakh 62 thousand after billing Rs 63 lakh 9 thousand.
