After captain Sumaiya Akhtar (28 not out), thanks to the brilliant performance of Anisa Akhtar Soba (four wickets), Bangladesh women’s team defeated Scotland by 17 runs in the Women’s Under-19 T-20 World Cup on Wednesday.
Scotland, who came to bat in reply to Bangladesh’s 120 runs, did not have a good start and lost two wickets at the score of 19. After this Pippa Sproul and Niamh Muir tried to handle the innings. Captain Niamh Muir (22) was out after scoring 22 runs in the 15th over. After this, no Scottish batsman could stay on the pitch for long. Pippa Sproul scored 41 runs in 41 balls with the help of four fours and one six. In front of the Bangladesh bowling attack, the entire Scotland team was reduced to 103 runs.
Anisa Akhtar Soba took four wickets for Bangladesh. Nishita Akhtar Nishi and Habiba Islam dismissed one batsman each.
Earlier today, Scotland women’s team won the toss and decided to field first. The batsmen of Bangladesh women’s team, who came to bat, were seen struggling against the bowlers of Scotland. With the contribution of Fahmida Choya (14), Zuaria Firdous (20), Afia Ashima (21) and captain Sumaiya Akhtar (28 not out), Bangladesh scored 120 for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. For Scotland, Naima Shaikh and Maisie Macira took two wickets each. Gabriella Fontenella, Amy Baldy and Kirsty McCall dismissed one batsman each.
