Hamar Lab facility is going to start soon in the Medical College Hospital, where 156 types of testing facilities will be available. The hospital management has started preparations for this. After the completion of civil work, the work of AC installation and rack making will be completed by the end of this month.
To ensure that testing does not become a hindrance in the treatment of patients in government hospitals of the state, Hamar Labs are being started. Hummer Lab was completed in Medical College Hospital (District Hospital) in Korba in 2 years. The building was constructed by CGMSC. After completion of civil work, the building has been handed over to the hospital management. With this, now the hospital management has started preparations for Hummer Lab. To start the testing facility in Hummer Lab and keep the samples, AC installation as well as rack is required. Approval for this has been received from Autonoms. Now the said work will be started soon. Biochemistry, microbiology and pathology departments will start inside the same building. In this way, 156 types of testing facilities will be available under one roof.
At present the pathology lab running in the district hospital has been made the central lab. Due to lack of resources and space, labs of different departments operate in small rooms. Patients who come for examination have to stand outside and wait. At the same time, many important testing facilities have not been started yet. In such a situation, patients have to go to private centers outside for many tests. Due to which the patient and his family face problems. With the opening of Hummer Lab, financially weak patients will save money.

According to Dr. Gopal Kanwar, Joint Director cum Hospital Superintendent of Korba Medical College, the civil work of Hummer Lab has been completed. After approval for equipment installation and rack making, work will now begin. After completing the preparations by the end of this month, the Hummer Lab facility will be started. 156 types of tests will be available in the lab.
