Fed up with the harassment from loan sharks, a man took the lives of his wife and son by giving them huge amounts of sleeping pills. After this he himself attempted suicide. Police gave this information. An official said that Vaibhav Hande, a resident of Chikhali near Pune city, is being treated in the hospital. Police have registered a case against four people, identified as Santosh Kadam, Surekha Kadam, Santosh Pawar and Javed Khan, in connection with the deaths, he said. Vaibhav said in his complaint that he gave several sleeping pills to his 36-year-old wife Shubhangi Hande and 9-year-old son Dhanraj in the morning, which led to their death. After this Vaibhav tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from the fan in his flat.
On Friday night, Vaibhav had sent a note to his 14-year-old son’s mobile phone in which he informed about his plan. The officer said the teenager got nervous after reading the message in the morning and called his neighbors to inquire about his family. After this, when the neighbors knocked on the door several times and got no response, they called the police. Police entered the flat and found Vaibhav alive, the officer said. After this he was taken to a private hospital.
Loan was taken at 10 percent monthly interest rate
Quoting Vaibhav’s complaint, the officer said, ‘The complainant had borrowed Rs 6 lakh and Rs 2 lakh from accused Santosh Kadam and Surekha at 10 percent monthly interest rate. He had taken Rs 4 lakh from Javed Khan at a higher interest rate. The complainant told police that he had repaid the principal amount and an additional Rs 9 lakh to the loan providers, but they were harassing him for more payments, the officer said. The officer said that a case of criminal intimidation has been registered against the accused and investigation is underway.
