A 100 year old fair is in full swing in Khiriya Mandla village of Patharia assembly, located 7 kilometers away from Damoh district headquarters. The main attraction of this five-day fair is the famous Rai dance of Bundelkhand, which thousands of people are coming to see. This fair started on Wednesday.
Patharia MLA and Minister of State for Animal Husbandry of Madhya Pradesh Lakhan Patel also reached this fair organized in his home village. Minister Patel told that this fair was started by his ancestors and their family deities are here. Even today, every member of his family, no matter where he lives, comes here during the fair.
In the fair, there are shops of daily use items, swings and dozens of dancers are performing Rai dance. Minister Patel also presented money to the dancers as a mark of respect. This fair will last for five days. Let us tell you that in Bundelkhand, fairs start from the festival of Makar Sankranti. Fairs are held at hundreds of places, in which the fair of Khiriya Mandla is famous in the entire district.
Minister of State Patel said, it has been more than 100 years since this fair was organized. Adwalya Babba here is our family deity. Have been watching this since very young. Everyone comes here with affection and love. He said that he will talk to Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh that this fair should be linked to the Culture Department. The fair is a symbol of our ancient traditions, culture and enthusiasm and joy.
