Possibility of adding blood pressure sensor to Apple Watch Series 11

New Delhi

Apple Watch is no longer just a smart wearable and status symbol. This wrist-worn device is also capable of saving people’s lives through many special features. But there is one area, namely the ability to measure blood pressure, that Apple has not yet been able to successfully implement. Now according to a new report, Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 may come with the necessary sensors that will be able to measure blood pressure.

Possibility of blood pressure sensor in Apple Watch
This technology has been a part of Apple’s research for a long time. But recently Mark Gurman released his “Power On!” Said in the newsletter that blood pressure sensors may come in the next Apple Watch. According to initial reports, Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3 will be able to alert users if they have high blood pressure.

Gurman provided only a brief description of the feature. However, it is expected that these devices will be launched in the second half of this year, when Apple usually announces its new iPhones. It is worth noting that this feature is not completely new; Samsung already offers the ability to measure blood pressure in its smartwatches. But if it is added to the Apple Watch, it would be a great addition.

Accuracy questions and possible solutions
Until now, previous implementations of blood pressure sensors have struggled with accuracy. However, new research may provide a solution to this problem. At the recently held CES 2025, some new products were revealed that claim to take medical-grade blood pressure readings from the wrist. Since this feature was first rumored to come to the Apple Watch Series 10, it has been awaited for a long time now.

Current capabilities of Apple Watch Series 10
The Apple Watch Series 10 is already capable of providing in-depth health metrics. Adding the ability to measure blood pressure will make this device even more useful. The watch can detect signs of sleep apnea, track heart rate, and even do an ECG (electrocardiogram). Although the device is not as accurate as medical devices, its sensors are powerful enough to alert the user when they need to visit a doctor.
