‘India got true independence on the day of consecration of Ram temple’, says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Ayodhya
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said the date of construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya should be celebrated as ‘Pratishtha Dwadashi’ as India’s ‘true independence’ was established on this day. For this, it had to face ‘Parachakra’ (enemy attacks) for many centuries.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the idol of Ramlala was consecrated in the Ram temple of Ayodhya on 22 January 2024. However, according to the Hindu calendar, the Pran Pratishtha ceremony completed one year on 11 January 2025. Mohan Bhagwat said that the Ram Mandir movement was not started to oppose anyone.

‘The way to the world…’

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief stressed that the movement was launched to awaken India’s ‘self’, so that the country can stand on its own feet and show the way to the world.

Mohan Bhagwat was speaking to Champat Rai, General Secretary of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Indore, on the occasion of ‘National Devi Ahilya Award’ ceremony. Mohan Bhagwat said that there was no discord in the country during the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya last year.

Sanjay Raut reacted

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has reacted to this. Sanjay said, RSS did not bring Ramlala. Mohan Bhagwat has not even written the Constitution. What they are saying is wrong. Ram Lalla has been around for thousands of years. We have fought for them, but there should be no politics on this.

At the same time, Champat Rai said that I dedicate this honor to all the known and unknown people of the Ram Mandir movement, who helped in the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Referring to the various phases of the struggle during the movement, Champat Rai said that the temple is a symbol of the ‘mustache of India’ and they are merely the medium for its construction.

What is Ahilya Award?

‘National Devi Ahilya Award’ is given every year by Indore based social organization ‘Shri Ahilyotsav Samiti’ to eminent persons for their contribution in various social fields. The president of this organization is former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

On the occasion of the award ceremony, Sumitra Mahajan said that a grand memorial dedicated to Goddess Ahilyabai, the famous ruler of the former Holkar dynasty of Indore, will be built in the city, so that people can get acquainted with her life character.

In the last few years, the National Devi Ahilya Award has been given to famous personalities like Nanaji Deshmukh, Vijaya Raje Scindia, Raghunath Anant Mashelkar and Sudha Murthy.
