Chhindwara
Three laborers are trapped after an under-construction well collapsed in Khunajhir Khurd village of Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. The accident happened on Tuesday. The NDRF team has been engaged in rescue operations for more than 19 hours. Doctors and ambulance are also present at the spot. The workers are trapped at a depth of about 30 feet. Every possible effort is being made to save one woman and two male workers. These workers were doing repair work of the old well.
How did this accident happen?
Repair work of an old well was going on in Khunajhir Khurd village near the city. The well suddenly collapsed on Tuesday. Some workers came out in time, but three workers got buried under the debris. These include one woman and two men. Rescue work is going on since the accident. Along with the NDRF team, the local administration is also engaged in rescue operations. A team of doctors and ambulance are also deployed on the spot.
father’s pain
While talking to the media, the pain of Kallu Khan, the disabled father of a child trapped inside, was expressed. He told that the names of the people buried inside the debris are Bashid, Rashid and Shahzadi. Kallu told that Bashid is his only son. The rest of the people are also his relatives. All are residents of Raisen. My son had to get married, so I sent him to work, but I didn’t know that this would happen.
Kallu Khan made serious allegations against the administration. During this he became emotional and his throat also got choked. He told that ‘When I reached, I told the administration that everyone is still alive, let us also try. On this the officer said what do you know, a team has come from Bhopal, a team has come from Delhi. Everything was fine. Everyone was talking till morning. When the motor stopped in the morning, I said that the water inside would rise, but no one listened to me. After some time the sound stopped.
Efforts to remove it continue
The rescue team is trying to remove the debris and reach the workers. Necessary medical assistance is also being provided to the workers. Rescue operations continued throughout the night. Till now the three workers have not been taken out. The administration and SDRF team are working continuously. Medical facilities and other assistance are being provided to the workers throughout the night. Doctors and administration teams are constantly present and efforts are being made to evacuate the workers.
Well sunk during debris removal
During the repair of the well, old debris was being removed. During this time the well sank. There has been a stir in the area since the accident. The villagers are also helping in the rescue work. Collector Shilendra Singh said, ‘Four ambulances have been deployed at the spot and we will soon take out these three laborers safely.’
The administration appealed to remain calm
He further said that the 30-member NDRF team is making every possible effort to rescue the three labourers. The situation is being continuously monitored and it is expected that the workers will be evacuated safely soon. The administration has appealed to the people to remain calm and cooperate in the rescue work.
