New Delhi
Facebook founder and META CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s troubles may increase. Parliamentary committee will summon Facebook’s parent company Meta. Nishikant Dubey, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on IT and Communication Affairs, has given this information in his post. He has posted about this on social media platform X.
He wrote, ‘My committee will call Meta for this wrong information. Wrong information about any democratic country tarnishes the image of the country. That organization will have to apologize to the Indian Parliament and the people for this mistake.
Mark is being criticized
IT and Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had already replied to Mark Zuckerberg in this matter. While posting on The people of India showed confidence in the NDA government working under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He wrote, ‘Mark Zuckerberg’s claim that most of the ruling governments of the world, including India, have lost the elections held after Covid is wrong. ‘ Actually, Mark Zuckerberg said in a podcast that after Covid, many governments around the world have lost the elections held in the year 2024, which includes India.
What did Mark Zuckerberg say?
In a podcast on January 10, 40-year-old Facebook co-founder Zuckerberg said that the Covid pandemic has destroyed trust in existing governments around the world. He wrongly gave the example of India in this regard. He said, “2024 was a huge election year across the world and elections were held in all these countries including India. The current governments lost basically every election. There was some major reason at the global level, whether it was inflation or economic crisis. The way governments fought Covid also had a significant impact. He claimed that people’s confidence in democratic institutions has also decreased.
Ashwini Vaishnav’s counterattack
In response to Zuckerberg’s statement, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav wrote on social media, “As the world’s largest democracy, India saw more than 640 million voters participate in the 2024 elections. The people of India reaffirmed their faith in the PM-led NDA. Mr. Zuckerberg’s claim that most of the existing governments including India lost in the 2024 elections post-Covid is factually incorrect. From free food for 800 million people, 2.2 billion free vaccines and aid to countries around the world during Covid to propelling India as the fastest growing major economy, PM Modi’s decisive third-term victory is a testament to good governance and the people. It is a proof of trust.”
Mark said this in Joe Rogan’s podcast. He said that this defeat of the governments shows that people’s confidence has decreased after the Covid epidemic. He also said that people’s confidence has decreased due to rising inflation, economic policies related to the pandemic and how governments handled COVID-19.
However, his claim is wrong in the context of India, after which he is continuously being criticized. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also tagged Meta while posting on X. He wrote that Mark Zuckerberg himself giving wrong information is very unfortunate. Whereas Nishikant Dubey has talked about summoning Meta in this matter.
