ACCU team and Civil Line Police have arrested the gang that was embezzling customers’ money by placing strips on the shutter boxes of ATMs. A car and Rs 30 thousand have been seized from the possession of the accused youth.
By interrogating the accused youth, information is being collected about other people associated with their gang. Civil Line CSP Nimitesh Singh said that 30 year old Ashish Pankaj Kumar, living in Mangala Babji Colony, has complained of theft.
The young man told that he had gone to the ATM to withdraw money from his mother’s account. He completed the process to withdraw nine thousand five hundred rupees. The money came out of the ATM and got stuck in the machine itself.
Seeing the strip near the shutter box, Ashish immediately informed dial 112. Also complained by calling the toll free number of the bank. On this the police team reached the spot. Along with the police, the ACCU team started monitoring the spot.
After some time, a young man in a car came there. They took out the money and started leaving. Meanwhile the police got scared there. The soldiers caught four youths. He had Rs 30,000 and the car was confiscated.
Theft at three places in the city while traveling in a car
During police interrogation, it was revealed that the accused youth had committed theft in the city’s old bus stand Imlipara, Maharana Pratap Chowk, Rajkishore Nagar ATM. The accused youth used to roam around in the car and put strips in the ATM. After this they used to wait for the customers to come and go. After the customers left, the accused used to take out the strips and take away the customers’ money.

Incidents took place in other districts also
Initial inquiry revealed that the accused youths had committed incidents in other districts. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused youth had committed theft in the ATM located in Raigarh. Apart from this, there is a possibility of incidents taking place in other districts also.

The police team is also collecting information regarding the accused youth in other districts. During the investigation, the police came to know that the accused youth had also been arrested in the NDPS Act case.
