Big disturbance in paddy procurement centres, 1704 quintals of extra paddy recovered, case registered against the in-charges

Major irregularities have been revealed during physical verification in the paddy procurement centers of the district. During inspection, more paddy storage was found in the centers than the quantity registered online. 1704 quintals of illegal paddy has been confiscated. The total value of paddy seized from 5 paddy procurement centers has been estimated at Rs 52.84 lakh. The administration has seized the paddy and registered a case against the procurement center in-charge.

On the instructions of Collector Avneesh Sharan, a joint team of Revenue, Food and Cooperative departments is carrying out the action. District Food Officer Anurag Bhadauria said that more than a dozen centers were inspected in the last two days, irregularities were found in five centres. 240 quintal excess paddy was found in Bodri procurement center, 681 kati in Ganiyari, 500 kati in Son (Pachpedi), 230 quintal in Kaudiya (Sipat) and 762.6 quintal excess paddy was found in Bodsara (Bodri).

The administration has prepared a case against the in-charges of all the procurement centers where irregularities were found. For investigation, Tehsildar and Food Department conducted physical verification at the procurement centres. During the investigation, all the paddy available in the center premises was counted and the bags were randomly weighed. As mentioned above, the excess paddy obtained has been confiscated and a case has been registered against the officials of the committee.
