Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will also perform Bhoomi Pujan of Sendhwa and Niwali Lift Micro Irrigation Project, two projects of Barwani district, in a program organized at Sendhwa Agricultural Produce Market complex on January 11. Besides, he will perform Bhoomi Pujan of 13 works costing Rs 2580.827 crore and inaugurate 19 works costing Rs 58.463 crore. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that there has been a historic increase in the area under irrigation in the state. The area under irrigation in the state in the year 2003 was about 3 lakh hectares, which has now increased to 50 lakh hectares. Our target is to cover 1 crore hectares by the year 2028-29.
Information about Sendhwa Lift Micro Irrigation Project
The Sendhwa Micro Lift Irrigation Project, to be built at a cost of Rs 1402.74 crore, will provide irrigation facility to approximately 44148.50 hectare area in 98 villages of the district. About 53 thousand farmers will benefit from the project. Narmada river water will be lifted to a height of 501 meters from near village Khedi of Barwani tehsil through a 2.70 meter diameter pipeline. With pressurized water, farmers will be able to take advantage of irrigation through sprinkler/drip and will get the benefit of more irrigation with less water. With this method, farmers will not need to level the land for irrigation. The total length of the main pipeline of the project is 56.394 kilometers. Villages benefited from the project: Farmers of 67 villages of Sendhwa Tehsil, 24 villages of Rajpur Tehsil, 06 villages of Niwali Tehsil, 01 village of Barwani Tehsil will be benefited from Sendhwa Micro Lift Irrigation Project.
Niwali Lift Micro Irrigation Project
The Niwali Micro Lift Irrigation Project, to be built at a cost of Rs 1088.24 crore, will provide irrigation facility in about 33 thousand hectare area in 87 villages of the district. Under the project, water of Narmada river will be lifted to a height of 465 meters from near village Borkhedi of Tehsil Pati through a 2.60 meter diameter pipeline. With pressurized water, farmers will be able to take advantage of irrigation through sprinkler/drip and will get the benefit of more irrigation with less water. With this method, farmers will not need to level the land for irrigation. The total length of the main pipeline of the project is 40.183 kilometers. Farmers of 29 villages of Tehsil Pati, 26 villages of Barwani and 32 villages of Niwali will benefit from the project.
