The meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held under the chairmanship of Collector Sanjay Aggarwal in the NIC room of the Collectorate. During this, Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohit Garg, Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Ayush Jain, CEO District Panchayat Ms. Suruchi Singh were present. Collector Shri Sanjay Aggarwal said that apart from the identified black spots in the district, he inspected the places of road accidents occurring at other places and asked them to resolve them.

He said that road accidents can be reduced by taking corrective action in such places. Instructions were given to quickly do other necessary corrective work including sign boards in the identified black spots. He gave instructions to make speed breakers and sign boards on other roads before joining the main road. He gave instructions to build the road with blinkers and ramblers to prevent accidents while building the road. Instructions were given to immediately install high mask lights at identified places on the national highway. He asked to keep the nomadic animals in cow shed or animal shelter on the national highway. He said that in case of loss of life due to road accident, investigation should be done and the report should be submitted soon. So that the financial assistance amount can be released to the family members soon. He instructed the officers to resolve hit and run cases quickly. He directed to take action to suspend the licenses of drivers who violate road safety rules. The licenses of 81 drivers who violated road safety rules have been suspended. He directed for continuous investigation and action to curb unruly driving.

Collector Mr. Aggarwal said that to reduce road accidents, the general public will have to be made aware of mandatory wearing of helmet and seat belt while driving. Instructions were given to take disciplinary action against those driving two-wheelers without wearing helmets. He asked the officials to sensitize the people to use helmet, use seat belt and drive as per capacity. He asked to make parents aware not to give vehicles to minor children. He directed to conduct fitness test of school buses and autos. Instructions were given to take strict action against operation of school buses and autos against rules. He said that children should be made aware about road safety in all schools. Teachers of all government schools in the district were asked to provide first aid training through Red Cross. He instructed the children of schools and colleges to create awareness by showing videos regarding road rules and ill effects of drugs.

Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohit Garg said that he asked to install GPS system in government and private ambulances operating in the district. So that in case of a road accident, the nearest ambulance can be contacted and the person can be immediately admitted to the hospital. Due to this, if timely treatment is available to the injured person, his life can be saved. He said that it is necessary to create awareness among the people to immediately take the person injured in a road accident to the hospital. Taking a person injured in a road accident to the hospital on time can save his life. He said that flex should be installed in the marked black spots and places connecting to the main road. Instructions were given to mention information about helpline number and road safety parameters in the flex. He asked to immediately repair the bad sign boards, rumbler strips and speed breakers on the roads. He directed to take strict action against people driving under the influence of drugs. He said that people who drive drunk cause harm to themselves as well as others. Due to drunk driving, not only the life of the driver but also the life of other people gets endangered. He instructed all police station in-charges to organize corrective programs and awareness programs to reduce road accidents in their respective areas.
